Posted On 01 Jul 2023

The National Government has coordinated six flights to provide emergency support to Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal while maritime transport and logistics to the Galapagos are regularized. This was stated by Mario Cuvi, Vice Minister of Government.

The flights have the support of the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) and the Ecuadorian Navy. These will be carried out through the Boeing 737-200 aircraft in response to the shortage of basic products in the archipelago, benefiting more than 25,000 inhabitants.

In a first shipment, 42,000 eggs and 30 sacks of legumes were transferred, according to the authorities, some 30 tons of products will be transported, including food and medicine, to Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal. These flights will be free of charge for merchants on the islands.

Likewise, it is expected that this Friday, June 30, 2023, the Fusion II ship will arrive with more than 3,000 gas cylinders and tons of food.
