NATO States that Syria’s Actions are Unacceptable
This Tuesday, Turkey warned that any Syrian military unit approaching its border will be treated as a direct threat. This decision seriously increases the tensions between Syria and Turkey after it shot down an unarmed fighter jet f-4 out of the sky.
Turkey’s NATO allies expressed solidarity with Ankara and condemned the Syrian attack, however it did not mentioned any retaliatory action against Syria. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Syrian Prime Minister stated, “The rules of engagement of the Turkish Armed Forces have changed.”
Syria continues to maintain that the Turkish military plane violated its air space last Friday. Its two pilots are still missing.
Meanwhile Syria claims that the downing of the plane was an accident due to an “automatic response” of an officer commanding an anti-aircraft position. (AV)
