The German shipping company Hamburg Sud, founded in 1871, which operates in Ecuador since 1970, will also do it now from Puerto Bolivar to Hamburg. Every Wednesday it will dock 1,100 containers of “banana and mashed bananas for the international market”.
Minister of Transport and Public Works Paola Carvajal, along with Governor Carlos Zambrano; the manager of the Port Authority of Puerto Bolivar, Vicente Guzman and the general manager of Mar Global shipping company, were present during the announcement and boarded the Algol (Singapore) container, 160 meters long and 22 wide.
