Negotiation: Jail in England in exchange for non-extradition to the US, possible exit to the Assange case
Ecuadornews:
Lenin Moreno, President of Ecuador, revealed what would be one of the theses being negotiated between the National Government, the English regime and the defense of the Australian Julian Assange, so that his exit from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London becomes effective: a conviction Three to six months for not coming before the English courts in exchange for not being extradited to a country where his life could be in danger.
“It is a problem that we inherited,” the president insisted and recalled that Assange has pending issues with English and American justice.
“Our main concern has been to protect his integrity, human rights, fundamentally, his live,” he insisted.
“We would be unable to deliver Mr. Assange to a country where he could be sentenced to death,” President Moreno assured.
At the moment, Ecuador is talking with the English government to know in what conditions the Assange exit from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London would be allowed.
“Mr. Assange breached a measure to present himself and would have, without a doubt, to have a sentence of between three and six months, I have been told, for not attending the demand of justice to appear,” he said.
Ecuador has made the condition that his life be respected and not be extradited to a country where conditions could be in danger, the president announced, who said that talks are still going on with Assange’s Legal Office.
“It is a violation of the human rights of a person who has been locked up in an embassy for so long, that is why it is important to find an exit that is convenient for Mr. Assange, for the Ecuadorian Government and the English Government,” he said.
On whether the English regime can give assurance to Ecuador that Assange will not be extradited to the United States, President Moreno stressed: “English laws determine, they cannot extradite a citizen, whoever they are, to a place where his life is in danger “.
Assange, on his side, would prefer a condition of complete freedom knowing that he may be imprisoned for 3 to 6 months in England, revealed the President.
“It is a decision that he must make,” he added in statements for Univisión.
Assange has been given a condition “to stop intervening in the politics, economy, free determination that each of the peoples has and, mainly, of the friendly countries”, otherwise, “we will make a decision”, emphasized the President. (I)
