Neruda’s remains will be exhumed on April 8
On April 8 will be exhumed the remains of the Chilean writer and winner of Nobel Prize for Literature, Pablo Neruda, in order to confirm whether he was actually killed.
The exhumation will occur by court order, in response to a complaint filed by the Chilean Communist Party following an accusation from a former driver of the Chilean poet.
According to “La Nación”, the professionals of the Forensic Medical Service (SML) and international experts will begin the work on April 6, they will open Neruda’s grave in the cemetery of Isla Negra, in the region of Valparaiso, where he is buried.
After the opening of the coffin, they It will begin, on April 8, day, the exhumation of the body in the presence of his two nephews and Judge Mario Carroza, who is investigating the causes of Neruda’s death on September 23, 1973 in the Santa Maria Clinic in Santiago.
It is believed that the tomb has a structure built witn high-density materials, which would make the the work of the experts moré difficult.
Tris will be the second time that Neruda’s remains are unearthed. The first time was in 1992, along with the remains of his wife Matilde Urrutia, to bury them in their house in Isla Negra, as he wished.
