New names for Bridges in Guayas will be chosen in an open competition
The Minister of Transport and Public Works, Maria de los Angeles Duarte confirmed that both bridges, Rafael Mendoza Avilés and Carlos Pérez Perasso, will lose their names and will get new ones as a result of an open competition.
A statement published on the Ministry’s website says that Ecuadorians citizens will have the opportunity to propose new names for the road complex that includes the last bridge in construction over the River Babahoyo, which will connect Duran- Guayaquil and Guayas with rest of the country.
The statement of the ministerial announcement indicates that “citizens can suggest a famous person’s name or the name of an event at their discretion,” taking as parameters: the trascendence and the historical significance of the name. (BG)
