New sector brand is available for sustainable industries

To reduce the emission of carbon dioxide of the planet and raise awareness in civil society about the importance of sustainable eco-industries, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment developed the sector brand “Circular Economy of Ecuador”.

The certification seeks to move from a linear economy, (which only generates waste) to the green regenerative economy (which converts waste into new raw material for recycled products).

The circular economy aims to ensure that products, components and resources maintain their usefulness and value at all times. This model also seeks socio-economic mechanisms that regenerate natural ecosystems and promote the well-being of the human being.

An investigation by the Ellen McArthur Foundation, carried out in the European Union, indicates that the adoption of the circular economy supposes a saving in materials of consumer goods of up to $ 700 million.

Ecuadorian companies can obtain the stamp for free through the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment. This type of brands facilitates entry into new markets and promotes exports. (I)
