Nico Said Goodbye to Tennis Along with His Friends and Fans

Nicolás Lappenti, former first racket of Ecuadorian tennis, said goodbye to this sport with a friendly match against his friend, the also retired tennis player, Pit Sampras. More than 9,500 spectators attended the match held at the Voltaire Paladins Polo Coliseum.
“Today was better than I imagined,” said the former No. 6 in the world, who thanked the fans for the unconditional support during his 16-year career.
Signs with messages like: “Thank you, Nico for the emotions that you gave us,” were at the coliseum, while Nico faced the winner of fourteen Grand Slams, Sampras. Nico won the match (7-6 7-6) after a two hours show.
