Nine soccer teams owe $ 5 million to the IRS
The Internal Revenue Services (IRS) aims to collect $5 073 442,11, between current and outstanding debts, to nine clubs wich form part of the A series and compete in the Ecuadorian tournament.
The information given by the director of the IRS, Carlos Marx Carrasco, indicates that Deportivo Cuenca, Deportivo Quito, Emelec, El Nacional, Manta, Liga de Loja, Deportivo Quevedo and Barcelona must pay fines for withholding taxes, lack of proper regulations, failures, added-value tax (VAT) an ammount of $1 918 682,88.
With suspended debts are Liga de Loja, Barcelona, Macara and Emelec, which together owe $3 154 759,23.
According to the report Liga de Quito, Independiente Jose Teran and Universidad Catolica, are not debtors.
Clubs should paid immediately to the IRS or if they will fall in tax fraud and will be subjected with coercive recovery measures, embargos and criminal proceedings against those who acted as representatives of the clubs at the time of the offence.
