Guillermo Lasso and the elected president Daniel Noboa had a meeting in Carondelet. The current president expressed that it is important to begin an orderly transition process as soon as possible.

The elected president, Daniel Noboa, and the outgoing president, Guillermo Lasso, met this Tuesday, October 17 in Carondelet, in the center of Quito, to begin the government transition. This is one of Noboa’s first activities after his victory in the elections.
Noboa arrived at the Carondelet Palace after 12:00, where he was received by dozens of supporters.
The Carondelet Palace had a strong police guard. The president-elect’s supporters began to arrive at 10:30 and gathered in Independence Square.
Lasso reiterated his congratulations to Noboa and added that “it is important for Ecuadorian democracy to begin an orderly transition process as soon as possible.” He again congratulated Noboa for a “clear victory” and a “very happy and peaceful campaign.”
The president-elect’s intervention was shorter. He thanked the Carondelet Palace for the invitation and added that there must be a “correct transition, with real cooperation and for the good of Ecuadorians.”
In the end, according to a statement from Noboa’s team, the elected president “was invited by President Guillermo Lasso to participate in the next meeting of the Public Security Council (COSEPE).
Noboa argued that one of the priority issues of his administration is security, which is why he requested that the session be urgently convened.
Lasso pointed out that the meeting could take place next week, in which the Intelligence, Armed Forces and National Police authorities will participate, who – under oath – will give a report on the situation in the country to the incoming president.
The meeting ended after 4:00 p.m. President Noboa left Carondelet, after briefly greeting some supporters.

After the protocol greeting and a short meeting between the two leaders in the presidential office, the leaders and their teams met to coordinate the transition process and change of government. Although the exact date has not been set, this will be mid-December at the latest.

- Former vice president and former Minister of Finance Alberto Dahik.
- Gabriela Sommerfeld, future Chancellor.
- Iván Carmigniani, head of Noboa’s campaign and future Secretary of Communication.

- Arturo Félix, Guayaquil businessman.
- Mónica Palencia, criminal lawyer from Guayaquil.

The meeting was the initiative of President Lasso. After 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, as soon as the results were confirmed, the president wrote on his X account: “It will be a pleasure to welcome you on Tuesday at the Carondelet Palace. We must now begin the transition process so that you can get to know more about the situation of Ecuador in economic, social and security matters”.
Noboa immediately accepted the appointment.
The president-elect announced that he will attend with his work team. Another of the tasks that Noboa offered to complete during the course of this week is the formation of his ministerial cabinet.
