Odebrecht paid kickbacks to obtain contracts in the Pacific Refinery

Ecuadornews:
The National Court of Justice asked the Interpol to track and capture Venezuelan citizen Freddy Salas Neuman. This foreigner served as a technical manager of the Pacific Refinery and a director of PDVSA in Ecuador.
On August 29, Salas, who was an official of the governments of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, was linked to Odebrecht’s corruption plot in Ecuador for the possible crime of illicit association.
At the hearing, for the first time, the Prosecutor´s office assured that “illegal money from the Odebrecht Structured Operations Department entered into the Pacific Refinery contract.”
This was the office responsible for authorizing the bribes that were distributed to Ecuador and other countries in the region. Initially, it was only known that this contract was investigated for possible payment of bribes, but on Tuesday, it was revealed that Salas “facilitated the economic benefits” to the Brazilian construction company.
That ‘support’ was forged in two contracts awarded to the company, between 2012 and 2013, when the Venezuelan was the technical manager of this Refinery. (I)
