Officials are held accountable in the Assembly

Posted On 22 Jan 2016

Attorney General Galo Chiriboga stated that 25 judgments were rendered for offenses committed on September 30, 2010, when a police revolt took place, and four more cases that would be dispatched this year are still pending.

The prosecutor made the statement in the plenary of the Assembly, where presented yesterday his annual work, as well as the holders of the Transparency and Electoral functions, the Council of the Judiciary, and the Public Defender.

Among other data, Chiriboga said that on the problem of domestic violence, 50 specialized units were created, and that the Latin American Investigation Protocol for Violent Deaths of Gender-Related                 Killings of Women of the United Nations was adopted.

He announced that the adjudication hearing in the case of alleged crimes against humanity against former members of the guerrilla group Alfaro Vive Carajo (AVC) will take place on February 17th.
