Olón Case: Secretary of Communication said that they seek to discredit President Noboa, his wife and his two ministers
Irene Vélez, Secretary General of Communication, was emphatic about the questions that have been raised regarding the construction of a real estate project in Olón, Santa Elena. She made two clarifications in this regard.

Irene Vélez, Secretary of Communication, made several clarifications about the real estate project in Olón, Santa Elena.
The first is related to the start of the real estate project. “The (real estate) project begins long before the President (Daniel Noboa) is a candidate; even of cross death,” he said in an interview with Centro Digital radio, this Thursday, May 9, 2024.
The second is that these events constitute a “political maneuver,” which is used to harm two figures who “are lifting up the country.” They are not only President Daniel Noboa and his wife Lavinia Valbonesi but Roberto Luque, Minister of Energy (e), and Mónica Palencia, holder of the Interior portfolio.
The head of Communication clarified that, for example, Roberto Luque was linked to the project during the investigations; while Palencia served as the personal lawyer of the now President. “They were trustworthy people and those trustworthy people later enter the Government.”
Vélez defended the work of Luque, who is also Minister of Transportation and Public Works. He noted that he has spent between 04:00 and 05:00 “trying to solve an energy crisis (…) a person who has not rested, who has given his energy to the entire country.” While Minister Palencia “has put her life on the front line.”
Vélez also called on the media and people who make opinions not to fall into a “game” to harm two figures who “are lifting up the country.”
