One and a half tons of drugs has been seized in three provinces

A ton and a half of drugs were seized by the Anti-narcotics Unit of the National Police during a simultaneous operation executed in Tulcán, Santo Domingo and Guayas, on August 20.
Luis Chica, anti-narcotics director, indicated that two Ecuadorians were arrested in Carchi (Tulcán). In contrast, in Santo Domingo, in the Covadonga sector, three Colombian citizens were detained.
In this town the operation was executed inside a farm, where 591 thousand grams of cocaine were buried. Chica indicated that, according to previous investigations, the place would have been used as a point of lodging.
The director added that the drug was destined for the United States. Within this operation, two more actions were carried out in Mapasingue, Batallón del Suburbio, Urbanización Guayacanes and Puerto Azul, in the province of Guayas.
At these points 14 people were arrested and six buildings were raided. In addition, five vehicles, a motorcycle and cell phones were confiscated. The anti-narcotics technicians estimated that the seized drug shipment had a value of $ 2 million. “We managed to take 261,933 doses out of the market, the value of the drug in the international black market can double or quadruple,” explained Chica.
