‘One Woman’, a song that celebrates women in the world
The world organization which advocates for women and girls, UN Women, decided today, to launch and dedicate the song “One Woman” to all women of the world in her day.
“We are a woman, our dreams are mine. Let’s shine. Shine, shine, shine,” exclaims the powerful chorus of this song, written by Beth Blatt and inspired by the stories of hundreds of women who have been supported by this program.
One Woman is the first song dedicated to an entity belonging to the United Nations. It was performed in 2011 during the launch of UN Women at the General Assembly of the world body, but today it has officially launched in the world.
Artists who worked on this project:
Ana Bacalhau, Angelique Kidjo, Anoushka Shankar, Bassekou Kouyate, Bebel Gilberto, Beth Blatt, Brian Finnegan, Concha Buika, Charice and Cherine Amr are part of the group that assembled the song.
Debi Nova, Emeline Michel, Fahan Hassan, Idanm Raichel, Jane Zhang, Jim Diamond, Keith Murrell, Lance Ellington, Marta Gomez, Maria Friedman, Meklit Hadero, Rokia Traoré, Vanessa Quai, Ximena Sariñana and Yuna also enliven One interpretation Woman.
The production process of the song lasted a year, because the artists do not interpret all together, but from the respective countries where they live.
