Palestinians Historical Moment at UN
Posted On 23 Sep 2011
This Friday the Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, 76, presented a application of membership to the UN so that Palestine can be an State despite the rejection of Israel and the United States veto.
The United Nations general secretary, Ban Ki-moon received the request from the Palestinian president Abbas in a brief bilateral meeting. Martin Nesirky, a spokesman of the UN informed that the Palestinian request would be dealt quickly.
The United States incited Abbas to resume the negotiations with Israel. However, Abbas pointed out that Israel has “destroyed” all possible means to reach a peaceful agreement. He also pointed out that Palestine is willing to return to the negotiations with Israel. (AV)
