Peace Between Colombian Government and FARC Faces a Difficult Path

Colombian government rejects FARC economic model
The delegations between the Colombian government and FARC reunited in Oslo, Norway faced their differences to achieve a peace agreement. In the beginning of the meeting the Colombian government rejected immediately the model of economic growth of the country presented by the guerrilla.
From November 15, the negotiations will move to Cuba, where they will discuss in secret the agricultural aspect of the country, this is the first point scheduled by both sides in order to put an end to the bloody conflict of almost 50-years.
During the press conference given after the first meeting in Hurdal, the differences of the groups could be seen. After rejecting the economic model of FARC, the representative of the Colombian government, Humberto de la Calle sad, “for that to be discussed in the Colombian schedule, the FARC must leave his weapons, make politics and win the elections, but in this moment its not part of the meeting.” AV
