Pedro Delgado faces new charges
The former head of the Central Bank of Ecuador and cousin of President Rafael Correa, Pedro Delgado faces charges of embezzlement, perjury, abuse of power and title forgery.
Assemblyman Fernando Aguirre was called today to recognize his signature on the complaint made in the prosecution, which can open a new process and incorporate it into the existing preliminary investigation against Pedro Delgado.
The investigation arose after the inquiry initiated by the independent Assemblyman Enrique Herrería, who accused him of the crime of misrepresentation.
This morning, the prosecution called the assemblyman Fernando Aguirre to recognize his signature in the complaint filed on December 26. This has already met the requirements to open a second process that can be linked to the existing case.
Through his Twitter account, Juan Carlos Carmigniani, Delgado’s attorney said that this week there will be a press conference. He announced that tomorrow a letter would be sent to the prosecutor’s so that the complaint of Herreria is filed. According to him, this crime was committed 22-years-ago and in another country.
