Peoples un voluntary isolation are not inhabiting the Yasuni
The Minister of Justice, Lenin Lara, said yesterday that the first report of the Executive on the feasibility to exploit the Yasuni ITT is ready, and demonstrates that there is no presence of peoples in voluntary isolation in the Yasuni.
“We have the conclusive technical report that there is no presence of peoples un voluntary isolation in the area, even in a transit zone. There are no options of affecting the Yasuni”, said the official.
For her part, Lorena Tapia, Minister of the environment, said in an interview with the offcial news agency Andes that environmental information would be sent during the next few hours to Carondelet and recognized that the area of exploitation “is qualified as a high-risk and high-impact zone by the environmental authority”.
“We are aware and we are not going to lie about being a protected area protected with a high level of sensitivity, and a large biodiversity, therefore the impact that could be generated must be controlled in an efficient and effective way,” said Tapia.
The Yasuni National Park is considered one of the most important natural reserves in the world and it is presumed that it is home to two peoples in voluntary isolation: the Tagaeri and the Taromenane.
