Political Groups fight for the votes of migrants
According to information from the National Secretariat for Migrants (Senami for its Spanish acronym), there are 2.5 million Ecuadorians residing abroad, of which 285,753 are eligible to participate in the elections of February 17, 2013.
The eight national political groups entitled to the polls ( Partido Sociedad Patriotica (PSP), Partido Renovador Institucional Accion Nacional (PRIAN), Partido Roldosista Ecuatoriano (PRE); Movimiento Creando Oportunidades (CREO); Movimiento Sociedad Unida Mas Accion (SUMA); Ruptura 25; Union Plurinacional de las Izquierdas (MPD-PK) y Alianza PAIS (AP) ) will fight for the voters’ support in three electoral constituencies: U.S. and Canada (71,854 voters), Europe, Asia and Oceania (191,964), Latin America , the Caribbean and Africa (21,935). Two representatives to the Assembly will be elected in each of the constituences.

It should be noted that the vote of migrants is optional, not mandatory, and those recorded for 2013 shall exercise their right to vote in the Ecuadorian consulates around the world, which will function as polling stations on the election day.
