Posted On 18 Mar 2013
Pope Francisco had lunch today with Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, President of Argentina, in his temporary residence in the Vatican, thus it was announced by Federico Lombardi, spokesman for the Holy See, through a press conference.
The Pontiff and Fernandez held a private meeting that lasted about 20 minutes, added the spokesman, and he said that there will be no official statement from the Vatican on this meeting, since it was something “very informal”.
Cristina Fernandéz and Jorge Mario Bergoglio, former Archbishop of Buenos Aires, have maintained tense relations and he hoped that this meeting serve to close differences between them.
