President Correa maintains that the FARC are not terrorists

During a press conference that the Ecuadorian president, Rafael Correa, offered yesterday, prior to receiving an honorary degree at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), he reiterated that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are not a terrorist group.
“I do not think they are terrorists, they are a subversive group, though I’m do not agree at all with them,” he said.
He added that terrorist label has been imposed in the United States “To begin with we will not accept impositions, if I was asked in another way maybe I’ll think about it.”
In his lengthy acceptance speech, of two hours, Correa made several critics, between those at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the transnationals companies and the neoliberalism capitalist. The ruler stated that for six years Ecuador has not being visited by a delegation from the IMF and said that they are doing “pretty well.”
