President Correa requires austerity in acts of accountability

President Rafael Correa, through Executive Decree 647, requests austerity in the acts of public institutions
President Rafael Correa, called for austerity measures to be taken into the acts conducted by government administration entities for accountability through Executive Order 647, whose Section 1 refers that public participation “shall be made through the publication of annual reports on institutional websites and there will be a citizen feedback through the same institutional pages; and if necessary, hearings with citizens will be held in institutional premises.”
The recent fall in oil prices and the appreciation of the dollar, were taken into consideration to issue this provision, “that´s why we have to take austerity measures,” said the president. This is because in recent acts of some public institutions such as the Government of Guayas, there were appetizers, drinks and waiters, while the Association of Municipalities of Ecuador (AME) hired a violinist to open a session.
