President Noboa supervised the start-up of 96 megawatts of energy from the Enrique García Central
From 9:00 p.m. on May 6, 2024, 96 megawatts of the Doctor Enrique García Thermal Power Plant in Guayaquil will be operational. President Daniel Noboa and the Minister of Energy (e), Roberto Luque, took a tour to verify the operation of that plant.
During the visit, tests were carried out to turn on the 96 megawatts of that substation that had been disabled due to lack of maintenance, as detailed by the Ministry of Energy in a statement.
Luque also announced that an additional 127 megawatts will be put into recovery from the plants: Aníbal Santos, Álvaro Tinajero, Trinitaria, Santa Elena and Gonzalo Cevallos, located in the coastal area. Its operation is projected within the next four months.
“We have asked the staff of the Electricity Corporation of Ecuador (CELEC EP) to accelerate work schedules to solve the dry season that is forecast for the month of September,” said the Minister of Energy.
Luque also referred to the situation of the Coca Codo Sinclair Hydroelectric plant. He said that the sediments will not cause a collapse of the work. However, debris could cause it to go out of operation momentarily.
This Tuesday, May 7, 2024, a hearing is scheduled at the Paute and Mazar hydroelectric plants, in Azuay. This is with the objective of verifying the maintenance of these infrastructures. President Daniel Noboa is also expected to attend this visit.
