Pro -Life groups defended life, peacefully

Pro-life movement “14 Million”

The movement “4 Million” gathered on Sunday at the Plaza San Francisco in Quito to reject the regulations of the Ministry of Health that govern the delivery of the morning after pill, and also the gender ideology as manifested in education programs.

The pro-life demonstration was accompanied by music, dancing and speeches in favor of the family. Thirty minutes later, a group of about 50 people broke out with chants and banners to oppose  this concentration.

Veronica Vera, from “Mujeres Salud” organization, said that in Ecuador there are different families. “We are against any kind of criminalization of love; of homophobia.” Vera said she supports contraception and the legalization of abortion in rape cases.

In Guayaquil, the meeting was held at the Malecon Simón Bolívar, where dozens of people wearing blue shirts, supported this same initiative of the movement “14 million”. Ecuadorian flags did not stop flaming on this peaceful day. The main slogans were: “We are not politicians, we are pro-life.”

Opposition groups also came with megaphones to demonstrate in favor of abortion, the morning-after pill and same sex marriage.
