Procedure of popular consultation on the CNE must be approved first by the CC

Making feasible a popular consultation, in which constitutional issues are addressed, as those raised by several political groups, in the case of indefinite reelection, must have a prior decision of the Constitutional Court (CC), before proceeding in the Electoral National Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym).
The Counselor of the CNE Magdala Villacis said on October 4 that for these issues, “there is a CC procedure already established” and that the “organizations know.”
“They must first have the opinion of constitutionality, after this, prior that opinion, we are notified to continue the process or not. That will depend on the previous judgment and “after this,” we deliver the forms,” Villacis said.
