Production of pigs increases

In Ecuador, production of 2010 was 95,000 tonnes and last year 137,000 tonnes, this is the equivalent to a growth of 45%, according to the Association of Pork Producers of Ecuador (ASPE).

It is estimated that this production comes in a 60% from about 1,700 technologically advanced and semi technified farms, according to the latest swine census published by the Magap (2010), and 40% comes from household production, in which about 90,000 pig owners participate, according to the records of Agroquality.
