Public works will not be used as propaganda during the election campaign
Carlos Polit, State Comptroller said that no elected official seeking reelection may use state resources for political campaign and can not benefit from public works to improve its image in the campaign.
This announcement was made after Polit signed with the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Domingo Paredes, a document for analysis and control of the electoral campaign and early February 2014.
Polit indicated that the monitoring must take effect immediately. “It is a preventive call that I do to all self-government and its institutions for not to using public funds in their images, banners, invitations, the money belongs to the state and can not be used.” He also added the prohibition of promoting staff in political events within working hours.
The briefing paper establishes joint control operation where each delegation shall issue a weekly report of their activities and expenses.
