Remains of Neruda are evaluated to determine if he was killed
Yesterday, the remains of the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, were exhumed, to examine through analysis in local and foreign laboratories which were the causes of his death.
This process involves experts, one of the four direct nephews of Neruda, and Manuel Araya, who was his driver and assistant, and for decades has remained firm on the idea that Neruda was poisoned by an injection that a doctor ordered in his abdomen.
After its extraction, his sarcophagus was covered by the Chilean flag, and taken to a vehicle of the Legal medical service, where shall be submitted to expert analysis which will be carried out abroad, since there is the appropriate technology to detect toxic substances in the bones.
The director of the Legal medical service, Patricio Bustos, said, experts who were responsible for removing the urn did it respecting all safety measures which correspond to avoid all kinds of intervention of contaminant type.
