Rifles and pistols are seized near the Galapagos

A large shipment of arms trafficking was confiscated near the  Galapagos Islands . The  Ecuadorian Navy  reported the seizure of 122 rifles and 48 pistols. The illegal weapons were carried in a fiber boat. The vessel was located 150 million from San Cristóbal Island  .

The uniformed officers, who participated in this operation, explained that the weapons are high impact. These are  AK ,  M4  and  R15 rifles . Likewise, 124 feeders were seized.

The military has already notified the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office. These institutions will have to investigate the facts and those responsible.

Intelligence agents indicate that this discovery could confirm that arms traffickers are using the same drug or fuel routes. “ Galapagos  is the gateway for these crimes to reach  continental Ecuador  ,” said an investigator.

El Telégrafo  reports that the police know that these types of weapons come from  Mexico  or the  United States . In these nations there are narco-criminal groups that would have links with gangs in  Ecuador .
