“Severino, A bus driver, travels across the province of Santa Elena, to witness the birth of his first child. On the way, he encounters several obstacles that make  it more difficult to reach his destination; facing his own fears  he leads us to understand that in the sunset of our lives, only love remains. “

Santa Elena en Bus

This is the synopsis of ‘Santa Elena en Bus’ a movie written, filmed and performed by young people from 12 different communities of the province of Santa Elena who, within a framework of free, film and acting workshops, produced this movie with the promotion of  Filmarte Production Company.

For this realization, about 49 participants, aged between 14 and 41 years old, took free workshops about films and acting, as a  part of a project of the National Film Board (CN Cinema). After four vocational workshops, in four rural communities, with four local themes, these young rookies on cinematography, wrote four screenplays for a fiction short film based on myths, legends and traditions of each community.

This resulted in ‘Santa Elena en Bus’, which tells the story of a bus driver who stops and picks interparochial passengers in the communities portrayed in each short film. A plot that revolves around life and death,  with love as the center of the entire film, performed with humor, some sadness and terror”.
