Posted On 13 Mar 2013
On Wednesday at 10:40 GMT (05:40 hours of Ecuador), a thick cloud of black smoke came out of the chimney of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, indicating for a second time to the world that the cardinals in conclave have not yet chosen a new pope.
The 115 cardinal electors were two inconclusive ballots during the morning, and will meet again in the afternoon to return to vote in two more rounds, after which another holy smokes expected.
The San Pedro Square awoke with numerous faithful who, facing the harsh weather in Rome, await the outcome of the second holy smokes of the conclave that will elect Benedict’s XVI successor.
