On Saturday, Colombian-born singer, Shakira, received the insignia of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters French in one of the opening ceremony of the 46th edition of Marché International du Disque and the Musical Edition (MIDEM) Cannes (France).
The artist said she was “happy” to receive “one of the highest honors in the arts and letters, it comes from a country like France, which has a cultural heritage so important.”
Frédéric Mitterrand‘s Minister of Culture of France was in charge of granting this distinction. Mitterrand presented himself as a “symbol of the culture on a global level,” thanks to his “generosity and charm” is able to share with the people of his “cheerfulness.”
“This is one of the moments that made me feel honored in my career,” said the singer.
