Yesterday, the former Italian Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, was sentenced to seven years in prison and disbarred for life to hold any public office, due to the sexual and judicial scandals that has been the protagonist.

After nearly seven hours of deliberations, the magistrates of the Court of Milan (North) Giulia Turri, Orsola De Cristofaro and Carmen D’Elia, condemned the telecommunications Tycoon of 76 years old, who said in a statement that he intends to “resist this judicial persecution” because he is “innocent”.

Italian politician was accused of having paid for sexual favours to a minor, known as Ruby, and organising orgies in his residence, attended by friends and prostitutes, some of them underage.

The condemnation of Berlusconi must be confirmed by the Court of Cassation.
