Since may 5 the teacher´s promotion request will be factible

Since May 5, around 102.247 teachers may request their promotion or recategorization. It is estimated that the salary increase could be a 10% of the current. If all teachers are promoted, the State will invest $ 105 million.
Those who are part of the Magisterium must meet four requirements to access to one of the two processes: having four years of service in the former category; demonstrate professional development; have a 70% note in the evaluation of the Ineval – if they have not been evaluated by this entity, the previous immediate assessment will be considered- and the academic title of the category.
The second requirement – professional development – has three components. The first is the formation. Required, at least, 330 hours of face-to-face training in graduate programs that offer the National University of Education, in agreement with local or foreign universities; or dictated courses of national universities in category A and B.
Also, there is the possibility for teachers to present a pedagogical innovation project that has to be endorsed by the Ministry of education, instead of 330 hours of training.
The third element is the publication in journals. This can be combined with the hours of training.
Promotion and recategorization requests will be received through the information system of the Ministry until June 13. Stakeholders must update their personal data and upload their affidavit to sime.educacion.gob.ec.
The Secretariat for professional development will make the analysis of the application and will sent the list of teachers who can be promoted from June 16 until September 30 of this year.
