Snowden formalizes asylum request to Russia
The informatic spy define yesterday his request to Russia for temporary asylum, as a mechanism to reach one of the Latin American countries that have offered him political asylum: Ecuador, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Bolivia.
About that fact, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño said that Ecuador is still in contact with the CIA former informant, but at this time his safety is not guaranteed for an eventual move to Latin America, citing the experience of Bolivian President Evo Morales, who was prevented two weeks ago, to use the airspace of some European countries on suspicion of carrying Edward Snowden.
Meanwhile, on Twitter, the urban band Calle 13 and its leader Rene Perez, offered asylum to Snowden, evidenced with the hashtag “#MiCasaEsSuCasaSnowden” (my house is your house).
Perez and Julian Assange organized yesterday a debate on Twitter about how to save the former CIA analyst and thanks to their tweets and retweets from their personal accounts, which together have more than 6.5 million followers, the issue quickly became a worldwide trend on Twitter .
The ‘Residente’ of Calle 13 is known for keeping his combative speech on and off the stage and it is the first time working with Assange. A month ago the two got together in Ecuador’s embassy in London to write a song about freedom of expression to be included in the new album of the band.
