Social network for to keep young people away from alcohol
Retuco is a digital platform that aims to raise awareness in teens to avoid start drinking at an early age and is part of the National Council for Control of Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (CONSEP).
The name was chosen by teenagers, since Retuco means in Spanish “Delay your consumption.”
It is a sort of social network in which the user must create a profile, with the exception that participants do not interact with others, but with a platform.
Rodriguez Velez, Executive Secretary of CONSEP, said that at least 300,000 people, especially youth, have visited the website, where they can find comics based on real life situations related to the problem of alcohol.
Currently the network has 16,900 members. The spread of the platform will be complemented by the students of Guayaquil as part of their Community Engagement duties, they will visit schools in the most vulnerable areas of alcohol consumption.
