Solar energy for the River transport
Posted On 01 Jun 2015
River transport can use solar energy, due to the change of traditional engines motors through the renewable light systems. That benefit communities who face limited fuel access.
The project will be implemented in communities of Nuevo Sinaí, Buen Samaritano, Puerto Rodríguez, Bajo Rodríguez, Mushuk Kallarí and Tres Fronteras settled along the Putumayo River in the Ecuadorian Amazon who use the inland waterways and is also part of the school mobility.
The tests were facilitated by a national private company and met two weeks ago, including the Puerto El Carmen – Puerto Rodriguez, in the Putumayo River (Sucumbios).
The Project of the Sustainable Mobility of the River, is promoted by the Undersecretary of Ports and Maritime and River Transport, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Electric Company of Quito and the National Corporation of electricity of Sucumbios (CNEL).
