Spain Asked the EU to Continue Helping Colombia, Peru and Ecuador

Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo spoke today in defense of Ecuador, Colombia and Peru
The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo, today urged the European Union (EU) to keep Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, within the beneficiaries of its aid.
At the beginning of the Council that the Communitary Foreign Ministers held in Luxembourg today, Garcia-Margallo spoke to argue that these three countries should continue having European support.
In his opinion, in the Andean region there are “three particularly sensitive countries: Colombia, which is struggling to consolidate the rule of law and the removal of the guerrillas, Peru, which is also in a vulnerable situation, and Ecuador, because it has half the country in immigration”.
This came after the European Commission has proposed halving the list of states receiving development cooperation and customs benefits since 2014. MZ
