Students can use digital texts instead of printed ones

Posted On 30 Aug 2018

Ecuadornews:

The Ministry of Education (MinEduc) issued an agreement with guidelines on the promotion of digital school texts and the proper use of forms in tax, fiscomisional and municipal educational institutions throughout the country.

Ministerial agreement 081-A is part of the Digital Educational Agenda carried out by this Secretary of State. The regulation establishes that parents can voluntarily express the wish that their children use non-fungible digital texts (which do not contain activities to develop them inside) instead of the printed ones.

This decision must be notified in the secretariat of the educational institution before the end of the school year, through the “Authorization form for the use of digital school texts”, which will be available on the ministry’s website.

In a statement, the MinEduc states that during the school year educational institutions will encourage the voluntary use of digital school texts in accordance with the infrastructure and technological resources possessed by each school.

Reuse of texts

The agreement also establishes that students, at the end of the school year and voluntarily, deliver their textbooks to the teachers responsible for each subject, so that other students can reuse the following year.

The books that can be delivered are those that do not contain activities to develop them inside, that is, the texts of 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grade of Basic General Education, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd of Unified General Baccalaureate.

They cannot be reused, school texts from 1st to 4th grade, corresponding to the sublevels of preparatory and elementary of General Basic Education, since these texts contain activities to develop them in their interior.

The regulations also mention that printed school texts from previous school years, which have been disused by adjustments in the total content of the curriculum, will be part of the libraries of fiscal, fiscomisional and municipal educational institutions. They will serve as pedagogical support for the educational community. (I)

Mediante Acuerdo Ministerial Nro. MINEDUC-MINEDUC-2018-00081-A promovemos el cuidado del ambiente con la reutilización de los textos escolares impresos no fungibles.
