SUPERCOM has sanctioned 198 media since 2013
After two years of the adoption of the Communications Law in the country, the Superintendent of Communication Carlos Ochoa made an assessment of the processes and procedures that have taken place in this period. This entity has sanctioned 198 media out of 1144 media companies that exist in Ecuador.
The assessment indicates that 506 proceedings have been executed, of which 282 were expedited by complaints and 224 by judicial office. He also reported that 313 resolutions have been issued: 185 received a financial penalty and 128 other types of warning. He said that no media has been closed by the application of the Act.
