Sylka Sánchez announces lawsuit against CNE advisers

Posted On 24 Nov 2020

At a press conference, the representative of the Adelante Ecuatoriano Adelante political party, Sylka Sánchez, announced that they will sue four councilors of the National Electoral Council for preventing the registration of Álvaro Noboa’s candidacy for the February 2021 elections.

Sylka Sánchez announces lawsuit against CNE advisers

“The CNE is trying to deceive and put up a smokescreen to delay the qualification of Álvaro Noboa’s candidacy, which was legally registered on November 7,” said Sánchez. He added that they will move to Quito and will remain there “until the TCE ruling is respected and until the legally registered candidacy is qualified.”

This Sunday, November 22, the National Electoral Council closed the door to their participation in the 2021 elections. Through a statement, the electoral authority assures that the registration procedures were not concluded “due to the responsibility of the political organization itself.” Therefore, the CNE indicates that the resolution of the Electoral Contentious Tribunal, which ordered the culmination of the process, “does not fit in the case of the presidential candidacy.”
