The Attorney General is the one who has to account for the judgment of the IA Court HR says former congressman
Former congressman Luis Villacis reaffirmed that the dismissal of the judges of the Supreme Court in 2004 by the National Congress at the time, was in accordance to the Constitution, since these judges had more than a year in extended functions outside the Magna Carta . Furthermore, according to the legal framework, the congress members could not be prosecuted criminally or civilly for their vote.
He regretted that the Attorney General has left defenseless the Ecuadorian State during the process of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IA Court HR), and eventually forced it to pay millions in compensation to former judges.
For the former legislator, who has to account for that sentence is the Attorney General of the State, and against him the action for indemnity has to be initiated, it could even make way for an involvement of the President, highest representative of the Central Government.
