The municipality of Quito hopes to finish in about 25 years what they termed as “The bicentennial”, this is the largest park that the capital city will have and that will be built on 126 hectares of land that were part of the airport Mariscal Sucre, with an investment of 80 million dollars.

The first stage of the land consists of a 20,000-square-meter space. Of a total of hectares that the old airport has, 11.40 will be used to enable a Convention Center, which will operate at these same facilities.

Also, it is planned to plant 10,000 trees, as well as the construction of 120 parking lots and 5 km of routes for the circulation of bicycles. For its part the aeronautical Museum of the air force (FAE) will remain in the same area.

According to Aeroservicios company since last February 20, date in which opened the new airport located at Tababela, have been deployed around 20,000 users from the old airport to the current.
