The CNE initiated a technical evaluation prior to referendum

The technical departments of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) started the revision of the systems and equipment to be used for the referendum, in case the Constitutional Court approves the questions proposed by the Executive.
CNE councilor Paul Salazar announced that the agency began assessing the protocols with a reuse approach, to take advantage of the infrastructure of the past elections. This dynamic will allow “generate savings,” he said.
In addition, he said, there will be no acquisition of new equipment. “The budget will be based on the technical part, with an austerity approach.”
The official clarified that after the Court’s ruling there is a deadline of 60 days to carry out the referendum. (I)
