The Comptroller General files a lawsuit for $ 1.4 million
Posted On 07 Mar 2017

The Anti-Corruption Commission passed from questioner and accuser to defendant. The plaintiff? Comptroller General Carlos Polit. The official asks for a compensation of 1.4 million dollars to the members of the citizen body.
According to Pólit’s lawsuit, the claim arises from the complaint made by the commission for alleged irregularities in the purchase of seven Dhruv helicopters from the Indian company HAL. The aircraft presented faults, crashed and some were never used. The State charged the insurance.
Jorge Rodríguez, a member of the commission, explained -when the lawsuit for the acquisition was filed- that there are deceased people and someone must respond. The legal action, which was directed against Comptroller General Pólit and Attorney General Galo Chiriboga, was dismissed and described as malicious and reckless by the judicial authorities.
This is the second demand of Pòlit against the anti-corruption body. The sale of Army lands (the current Samanes park), where the government admitted an overpayment, was also denounced by Rodríguez and his companions. The prosecution also did not please Carlos Pólit and he initiated a legal action seeking a compensation of $ 300,000. The case will be resolved this year.
The former Minister of Renewable Energy, and currently Legislator elected of the PAIS party, Esteban Albornoz, also brought his differences to justice. This is due to the complaints in the Manduriacu project.
