The export of copper concentrate from Puerto Bolívar increased by 141%
A total of 294,987 metric tons (MT) of copper concentrate were exported from the Puerto Bolívar terminal to China, so far in 2021. The figure exceeds that of 2020, which registered 122,394.38 MT, which shows an increase in the 141%, reported the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.
From this port area, this mineral ranks as the second largest export product, after bananas. Weekly, it is transported to the terminal in large bags that are stored in the warehouse until the specified quantity (required) is obtained and shipped to the ships.
This mineral, which generates significant income for the country, comes from the eastern province of Zamora Chinchipe, and constitutes a great step towards responsible mining.
According to official data, September was the month of 2021 with the highest amount of copper shipments, reaching a total of 36,852,579 MT. To date, there are nine vessels of this derivative that have sailed to Nanjing – China from the port of Orense.
Aida García, manager (E) of the Port Authority of Puerto Bolívar, indicated in this regard that the continuity in the export of this mineral from Puerto Bolívar is the result of a joint work between the Yilportecu company and the State.
