The Ministry of Communications developed a phone with applications in Kichwa

The Ministry of Telecommunications along with the telephone company Claro, presented in Colta, Chimborazo province, a cell phone with applications in the Kichwa (the native tongue of Ecuador).
Representatives of Claro pointed out that this new service, brings to the Ecuadorian market with the first cell phone with applications in the Kichwa, as an action made by the private company to include its services to the indigenous sector, through its plan KIT ZTE GS 512 (available for $44,99+Taxes).
The minister of Telecommunications, Jaime Guerrero Ruiz, said that according to the Population and Housing Census 2010, there are 591,448 people in Ecuador that keep this ancient tongue alive. AV
