The Municipality of Guayaquil implements a national passenger control protocol at the José Joaquín de Olmedo Airport
Carlos Luis Salvador, director of Health of the Municipality, reported that the Cabildo activated health brigades for controls in place, prior to the end of the state of exception that concludes at the national level this Sunday.
“National passengers will be suggested to carry out a rapid test upon arrival and if it is positive, they will be offered the option of having a PCR test completely free at home,” Salvador explained. “All are suggestions because when the state of exception is over, we cannot stop the mobilization of people in the national territory.”
Passengers who register an increase in temperature or show symptoms will have this facility from the Cabildo, according to the director of Municipal Health. It is about maintaining an epidemiological surveillance that had been withdrawn for domestic flights. The work is intended to prevent and avoid sources of contagion that the Municipality cannot identify in time.
The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) will continue its work with international flights . “The control measures will be maintained for as long as the Ministry of Health deems necessary, the type of control is adapted according to the epidemiological situation,” reported Diego Torres, head of international health regulations of the Zonal 8 coordination of the MSP. Torres reported that 25 officials will continue until further notice to carry out health control and review the negative PCR tests.
Among the guidelines issued by the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE) before the end of the state of exception, the presentation of negative RT-PCR tests for covid-19 is maintained as a requirement for entering the country.
All persons must present to the personnel of the Ministry of Health the test with a negative result , issued no more than 10 days before arrival in the country, at the air, land or sea entry points to Ecuador. The validity of the same test is accepted for those citizens who leave and return to Ecuador at that time.
The mandatory administrative segregation (APO) will be applied for 10 days to people entering the country by any of the entry points that do not have the RT-PCR test duly substantiated by the position of the MSP. The place of the APO will be the one indicated by the person upon entering the country and in the case of presenting symptoms, it will be handled under the condition of a patient with suspected covid-19.
“If the passenger as of tomorrow (Monday, September 14), which ends the state of exception, does not arrive in the country with a negative PCR test, they will have to do the home APO until they take a test and request that their preventive isolation be lifted mandatory ”, explained the official of the Zonal 8 coordination of the MSP.
