The opposition gathers evidence against Gustavo Jalkh

Ecuadornews:
Lawmakers Esteban Bernal (Creo Party) and Raúl Tello (MUPP Party) have fifteen days to file the request for a political trial against the president of the Judicial Council Gustavo Jalkh. They are gathering as much evidence as possible to prevent the Legislative Council of Administration (CAL) to close it before it reaches the Audit Commission. The initiative was presented publicly on September 5th.
Bernal and Tello have the support of their blocs, which total 38 legislators. Under the Legislative Function Act, at least 35 signatures of support are required to file a request for political prosecution. Therefore, that requirement would not be an inconvenience. However, it is expected that the rest of the opposition also support the impeachment.
The process of inspection comes after the leak of emails that show an alleged political pressure on the judicial system. (I)
